The oil sludge is kind of waste coming from various sources such as the oilfield drilling waste, refinery waste, crude oil tanker bottom residual etc. The treatment of oil sludge is getting more and more attention as the environmental deterioration and energy consumption. Solid liquid separation is a popular solution for oil sludge treatment, the separated oil, water and solids can be discharged respectively for recovery or reducing waste purpose.

GN decanter centrifuge can be used as main type separation equipment for fine solids liquid separation. Normally, for oil sludge treatment, a vibrating screen will be installed before the decanter for coarse solids separation in the oil sludge.
Oil sludge is always with high viscosity and large content abrasive solids content. With heating and dilution process, the oil sludge fluidity will be increased greatly, for wearing prevent consideration, the decanter centrifuge screw propeller will be protected with tungsten carbide plate. In order to increase the efficiency of separated solid cake pushing towards discharge port, the inner wall of the decanter bowl is with welded longitudinal bars or grooves, which will prevent the solids from sliding when pushed by the screw propeller, especially when the sludge is soft.

Currently, in GN oil sludge treatment system configuration, the GNLW554ET-VFD is the biggest model applied for centrifugal separating solids and liquid. It is 22 inch bowl diameter and L/D ration is 4.2 that will make the sludge stay in the bowl for longer time for better separation performance. Its automatic thin oil lubrication system ensures the stable running and continuous lubricating on the main bearings at both ends.
